Superior effluent quality and lower lifecycle cost than conventional activated sludge treatment
Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) systems offer several operational and economic advantages compared to conventional wastewater treatment plants. By incorporating SUEZ's membrane technology, MBR systems eliminate the need for secondary clarifiers and tertiary treatment. This allows for increased performance with a smaller footprint.
With over two decades of ZeeWeed* membrane bioreactor experience, SUEZ delivers advanced MBR technology and solutions for your needs.
We offer LEAPprimary*, LEAPmbr* and ZeeWeed 500.
A membrane bioreactor combines a biological treatment step, usually activated sludge, with a membrane step, usually a low pressure ultrafiltration or microfiltration membrane for wastewater treatment. SUEZ membrane bioreactors use ZeeWeed ultrafiltration membranes to perform the separation function of solids from the water in wastewater treatment.
Using ZeeWeed membrane bioreactors for wastewater treatment provides several advantages to customers. The MBR replaces the secondary clarification found in a conventional wastewater treatment plant and provides a higher quality treated wastewater. The membranes allow the purified water to pass through the pores (filtrate), while creating a complete barrier to the passage of any solid greater than 0.4 microns, which includes almost all bacteria and suspended solids. In an MBR, the membranes create a solids barrier and therefore the process is not subject to gravity settling solids limitations, as in conventional clarifiers.
