Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification technology that uses a semipermeable membrane to remove ions, molecules and larger particles from the water.
In reverse osmosis, an applied pressure is used to overcome osmotic pressure, a colligative property, that is driven by chemical potential differences of the solvent, a thermodynamic parameter. Reverse osmosis can remove many types of dissolved and suspended species from water, including bacteria, and is used in both industrial processes and the production of potable water. The result is that the solute is retained on the pressurized side of the membrane and the pure solvent is allowed to pass to the other side. To be "selective", this membrane should not allow large molecules or ions through the pores (holes), but should allow smaller components of the solution (such as solvent molecules) to pass freely.
Suez offers Reverse Osmosis pre treatment chemicals, Micron Cartridges Filter, Membrane Anti Scalent, Membrane cleaners, Non Oxidizing Bio Side for the RO Membrane as well as Reverse Osmosis Membrane also.
RO systems create salt concentrated water streams that could produce scale or fouling, while "the narrow feed water channel found in your spiral would and hollow fiber elements accentuates scaling and fouling". SUEZ RO membrane Antiscalant are pretreatment programs designed to eliminate scale and reduce fouling in membranes systems, regardless of the feed water source.
Successful membrane program of an RO plant must use high performance membrane cleaners. Usually membrane cleaning is implemented when operating parameters, flux, conductivity or ΔP ( pressure differential) change significantly. It is advisable to clean at an early stage of fouling because foulants may be difficult to clean later or the damage may be permanent to the membrane.
Suez full chemical portfolio includes chemistries that clean membranes, ensure reverse osmosis membrane performance, and enhance efficacy against scale-forming substances.
Due to Bio fouling performance of reverse osmosis plant is detoriate.
Suez non-oxidizing biocides are highly effective in reducing bacterial growth and slime build-up on a variety of membrane types.
The function of non-oxidizing biocides, like the Bio Mate MBC products, is to help with slime penetration, high efficiency film fill, intermittent feed, and process contamination. These non-oxidizing biocides are based on either isothiazoline or DBNPA (2,2-Dibromo-3-nitrilopropionamide) chemistries. All products are approved for compatibility with standard RO membranes with decomposition processes yielding benign by-products.
Suez broad range of non-oxidizing biocides help control:
Algae
Biological slime
Sulfate-reducing bacteria
Biofilms formation
